Personalized Urban Wedding at Baker Street

Baker Street Station | Fort Wayne, Indiana

I only had one September wedding this year, and honestly I am not even mad about it. October and the rest of the year are just crazy between work, and life, and getting married in December, so nice and calm September is just what I needed before three months of full chaos. Plus it also gave me a chance to catch up on some back end business stuff, so it was really a much needed month. But September weddings are always my favorite, the weather is beautiful, the color palettes are always pretty, and they are usually some of my favorite weddings.

This wedding was definitely on the list for favorites as it was just seriously such a good day. I know I always say my weddings are so good, but I genuinely mean it. 2021’s wedding season has just been incredible all around, and I always swear the current year will never top the year before and it always rises to the occasion. I have to say that this wedding was a favorite simply by dessert, so just know if you have cinnamon rolls as your dessert at your wedding that your wedding will hold a special place in my heart forever. I do mean that. Anyways down to the details of this day. Sarah and Alex’s wedding day was just so personal. Everything at their wedding was a reflection of who each of them are as well as who they are as a couple. They love movies and tv shows, so each table at the reception had a different theme. There was even a Grey’s Anatomy one, so you already know I was so here for it. They carried this movie theme throughout the reception with not only their decor but also their favor being popcorn. Sarah has a huge obsession with Legos so Alex surprised her by getting all the bridesmaids Lego flower bouquets which was so sweet and honestly such a cool alternative to flowers. I will say I spent part of the day stressed over if one would break, but they were so cool! There was also Lego’s included into their reception table displays. Alex has a love of baseball so they incorporated the movie Sandlot, as well as their guest book was a home plate that everyone signed. They also had custom jerseys that they displayed at their reception and wore for a few pictures. It was so cool to get to know the couple better by them making their wedding day so personal. Sarah also spent time as a child in Australia because her family is from there so they incorporated some Australian traditions into their ceremony and it was so cool! But besides how amazingly personal their wedding day was, they also had such a pretty day. The weather was just perfect. The girls navy mismatched dresses looked so good on them, and the guys grey suits were perfect for the day. Sarah also opted to keep her girls comfy by having their wedding shoes be converse which was such a cute touch that I see every once and awhile and I bet her girls just loved her for it. All around the day was so dreamy because it was so personal and truly such a reflection of them as a couple.

I know I say every bridal party was great, but let’s be honest, I seriously just get blessed with the best bridal parties. Alex and Sarah’s bridal party was just such a joy. Sarah’s maid of honor made sure her dress and veil looked flawless in every photo which was so helpful. But the rest of Sarah’s girls were just as great showering her with compliments, and keeping a huge smile on Sarah’s face the entire day. They were seriously just such a joy to be around and I could tell that each of Sarah’s bridesmaids just loved her so incredibly much and felt so honored to be a part of her big day. Alex’s guys were hilarious, seriously I was crying during photos I was laughing so hard, but they were also such a joy to be around. They were down for any photo idea I had, and threw out some great ideas as well. The best part about Alex’s guys was his one groomsmen who is a second dad to him. I just thought this was the sweetest touch.

Now most weddings I shoot I have met the couple before so I have a blog post gushing about them already, but this was actually the first time I met Sarah and Alex. That is right, I met these two for the first time on their wedding day. So obviously I am a little bias towards them because they trusted me enough to meet me for the first time on their wedding day. But in all seriousness this couple was just fantastic to work with. These two were so sweet, and so affectionate and loving with each other. They just had such a natural chemistry. They were so easy to photograph and were such naturals in front of the camera. The sweetest thing happened at their wedding that I just have to mention. Apparently after they got engaged Sarah asked Alex when he knew she was the one and he told her he would tell her on their wedding day. So after dinner, and before anyone else gave a toast, Alex stood up and talked about the exact moment he knew Sarah was the one. I kid you not that there were so many tears shed because it was the SWEETEST thing and truly just showed that these two were 100% meant to be together.
